Our Surface Drifters
Ocean Waves
Our Return to Sea Drifters are a unique, patent-pending design, manufactured at our facility. Each is an expendable surface buoy that is tracked from shore using a satellite transmitter contained within the primary, stainless-steel, cylindrical canister.
To protect the marine environment, each Drifter is constructed from natural and non-toxic materials including stainless-steel, aluminum, natural cork and a thin sheet of silicone. A granite base provides ballast, ensuring stability as the Drifter exists in the ever-changing wave environment.
The only unnatural component is a small satellite transmitter—about the size of a matchbox that makes up less than 1% of the Drifter’s total weight including the four internal AAA batteries.
Beneath the ballast plate resides an ash canister that contains the Loved One's ashes, which are gently released into the ocean as described on the next page of this website.
