Deployment Vessels
Return to Sea utilizes experienced Captains and safe vessels for Drifter deployment into the Gulf Stream. Deployment timing is determined by equipment readiness, participant availability and prevailing weather and sea conditions — with safety as the highest priority.
Families may choose between two deployment options:
Unattended Deployment (cost included in R2C Service)
The Drifter is deployed solely by Return To Sea personnel, as Family members chose not to participate. A safe vessel of roughly 25-ft length will be used. Photographs will be taken during deployment, and position/time will be logged.
Participant Deployment (vessel cost not included in R2C Service)
Family decides the number of family members, friends, clergy or a videographer who will attend the Drifter deployment. Up to six participants can accompany the Return To Sea team aboard a 35 to 45-ft vessel. Photographs and position/time logs will be recorded during deployment. Larger groups will require a larger vessel.
