Ash Canister

Beneath your Return to Sea Drifter, a biodegradable cardboard cylinder is captive within a stainless-steel mesh bag. Your Loved One's ashes will have been placed inside this uniquely numbered Ash Canister by your chosen crematory, and mailed to our Return to Sea facility in Florida. Metal endcaps are used to contain the ashes rather than plastic caps that would pollute the marine environment.

The Ash Canister is designed to release its precious contents slowly over several days, as the nontoxic cardboard disassembles and allows the ashes to gently return to the ocean. The result is a lasting connection between your Loved One and the waters that sustain all life — a serene passage back to nature, carried by the timeless rhythm of the sea. 

Although the drifter may eventually escape from the Gulf Stream surface flow, the settling ashes from the canister will continue to be transported into the vast North Atlantic Ocean.
